Dr. Stephen Merry
Dr. Stephen Merry is a consultant in the Department of Family Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he is integrally involved in the Mayo Clinic's Global Health Operations Group, chairs the Mayo International Health Program resident selection committee, is involved in international health research, and directs a new annual preparatory course for short term global health medical volunteers, "A Taste of Tropical Medicine".
Steve received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Hope College, his M.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, his Masters in Public Health with a concentration in International Health from Harvard University, his Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and studied missions and theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Steve has prior board experience on the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine's Upper Peninsula Health Education Consortium board and executive experience as medical director of the Michigan region of the St. Francis Health System. Steve spent a few years in Africa working at mission hospitals in Cote d'Ivoire and Togo and a semester teaching at Mbarara University medical school in Uganda. Steve is the liaison to one of our partner churches, Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester, MN, which has supported missions work in Guinea since 1989.
